Build-a-Bronco
Modular 3D-printed mascot for SCU Athletics, sold through the campus bookstore
A modular, multi-color 3D-printed Bronco mascot that snap-assembles like Lego, built for SCU Athletics (a ~10,000-person customer base) and sold through the campus bookstore.
- 01Designed the main product from scratch in CAD across many iterations
- 02Designed the cross-fit snap-together assembly system
- 03Optimized for 3D printability: orientation, supports, tolerances, multi-color strategy
- 04Prototyped and optimized fabrication to mass-produce 25 units, which sold out in 3 days
- 05One of the course's top-achieving teams (ENGR 172, Dr. Christopher Kitts)
For SCU's Applied Entrepreneurship course, our client was SCU Athletics with a roughly 10,000-person customer base and the campus bookstore as the sales channel. I owned design and fabrication: co-developing the concept, designing the product from scratch in CAD across many iterations, designing the snap-together cross-fit assembly system, and optimizing everything for 3D printing, from part orientation and supports to tolerances and the multi-color print strategy in the Maker Lab. We mass-produced 25 units that sold out in 3 days.
